The Portuguese European Union Presidency has included Bosnia and Herzegovina in the updated list of safe countries with a low COVID-19 risk, which means that all travel restrictions for the country imposed during the pandemic will be lifted, learns Radio Free Europe from diplomatic sources.

Reportedly, the decision was approved by the ambassadors of the EU member states and is expected to come into effect by end of this week. This means that Bosnian nationals will be allowed to go on non-essential travels to the EU member states without providing a vaccination certificate.

The new list of low-risk countries also includes Montenegro and Kosovo as well as Canada, Moldavia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The list is being updated every two weeks, based on the epidemiological situation in every country. To be on the list of the low-risk areas, a country will have an incidence rate of below 75 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 in a 14-day period.

Previously, the EU decided to lift the restrictions for travellers from Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.
