A US bipartisan congressional delegation will arrive in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday as a part of a visit to the Balkan countries, the Voice of America learns unofficially.

The delegation will be led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen (Democrat), Chair of the Senate Subcommittee on External Relations for Europe and Regional Security Cooperation and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. She will be accompanied by Senators Chris Murphy (Democrat) and Thom Tillis (Republican).

The Senators will visit Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo during their Balkan tour.

Senators Shaheen and Tillis are also co-chairs of the NATO Senate Monitoring Group.

According to VOA, the delegation will meet with the state officials officials, civil society and media representatives to discuss a number of issues, including support for Ukraine amidst Russia's invasion, European security, anti-corruption efforts and media freedom.

The Office of Senator Shaheen has announced that the delegation will convey a message of the continuation of US support for the allies amidst Russian invasion of Ukraine and support for the Western Balkans towards European integration.

Shaheen said the delegation is traveling to the Balkans at a crucial moment for Europe and that the confirmation of American support for the partners in the region is particularly important, because of the most uncertain military situation in Europe since the WWII.

“We must continue to support the Balkan peoples on their democratic paths and encourage their path to European integration,” the VOA quoted her as saying.
