Meho Kodro was appointed a new coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team and will succeed Faruk Hadzibegic on that post.
Kodro was already at the helm of the team when he was elected on January 5, 2008, but was dismissed soon afterwards, on May 16 the same year. He was fired after he told the Football Association management that he was against leading the team in a friendly match against Iran, which was supposed to be played on May 26, 2008 in Tehran.
The team nicknamed the Dragons played two friendly matches with Kodro, losing to Japan 0:3 and playing a draw against North Macedonia 2:2.
After four rounds of the qualifiers for EURO 2024, the Dragons gained only three points – in victory against Iceland, and three defeats – against Slovakia, Portugal and Luxembourg.
The Bosnians struggle to get to one of two first spots in their group, which will secure them participation in EURO 2024, but they have an opportunity to play in the play-offs through the League of Nations, which the team secured by finishing as the first team in the group B3.
