Migrant found dead near Sarajevo was shot, authorities confirm

The identity of the victim remains unknown, as no personal documents were found on him.

"The process of identification is ongoing, as well as efforts to locate the suspects responsible for this crime," Bavcic stated.

She further explained that following an investigation led by the on-duty prosecutor, it was confirmed that the migrant died from gunshot wounds.

"The cantonal prosecutor has issued multiple orders for various forensic examinations," Bavcic added.

Authorities are also investigating whether this murder is linked to conflicts among migrants, which have become a common occurrence as they pass through Bosnia and Herzegovina on their way to European Union countries.

The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior (MUP KS) reported that the victim's body was discovered inside a residential building in Otes during the afternoon hours on March 27.
