Mihael Stajnar triumphs in historic inaugural Tour of BiH

The final stage, which ran from Ljubuski to Neum, was won by Romania’s Alin Toader of the Romania National Team. He crossed the line ahead of Albania’s Valentin Kamberaj and Italy’s Raffaele Veneri, who races for Gallina Ecotek Lucchini.

Stajnar, having held the lead since the second stage, finished within the main peloton with a time of 2:34:38. This performance was sufficient to maintain his position at the top of the general classification, securing the overall title ahead of Poland’s Jakub Kaczmarek and Lars Quaedvlieg of the Netherlands.

“Emotions are high because this is the day we dreamed of,” remarked Toni Zoric, Director of the Tour of BiH. The race concluded on Sunday in Neum following a three-day schedule. To celebrate the successful completion of the debut event, Zoric took a celebratory leap into the sea while expressing his gratitude to the organising team.

“The first Tour of BiH is behind us. I am delighted that we finished the race with the highest ratings and, crucially, without any injuries to the competitors. We anticipated challenges, but everything went perfectly,” Zoric told FENA.

He extended his thanks to the sponsors and institutions that backed the event, noting the impressive public turnout throughout the route, which spanned from Sarajevo to Mostar, Mostar to Ljubuski, and finally Ljubuski to Neum.

“People came out of their houses along the roads to greet us. Children cheered us on, which proves this sport has a future here. Bosnia and Herzegovina has enjoyed incredible promotion over three days of competition, hosting cyclists from 38 countries across five continents. We are already beginning our preparations for next year,” Zoric concluded.
