The Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and its Serb member, Milorad Dodik, warned that COVID-19 is serious and called on citizens to be cautious after he was released from the hospital on Tuesday following his 16-day battle with the disease.
Dodik was hospitalised on December 20. Days later tested positive for the coronavirus.
By the end of the month, he tested negative for the virus but remained at the hospital for further treatment.

“He had severe bilateral pneumonia, followed by cough and fever, and with the joint work of my colleagues and consultation with doctors from Serbia and abroad, we successfully completed this battle. Dodik will continue recovering at home, and he will continue coming to receive his therapy,” said the Director of the University Clinical Centre of Republika Srpska (UKC RS), Vlado Djajic.
“Without this wonderful team of people, I would not be standing here and I have not seen this kind of approach to work for a long time. People were always there, just as I was, and they took care of us patients and I am grateful to all of you,” he said referring to the medical workers.
“I want to thank you and give you all a big hug for everything you have done. I am grateful to these people, teams of doctors from Serbia, Slovenia, the USA and all those who were involved in any way and who helped,” he said.
The Presidency Chairman said that “these were difficult days” for him and that he is convinced the UKC RS is a serious institution.
“A period of rehabilitation awaits me,” he said, calling on people to take care of themselves and be cautious regarding the virus.
“Don't be naive and frivolous, the very fact that Djajic told me a few days later that he went to church and lit a candle for me there made me realise what position I’m in,” he said.
“Be careful, it's not easy. I don't want to present myself as a hero, but it was problematic and here we are now. I am grateful for the support of anyone who gave it in various ways,” he said.
