Thursday’s BiH Court not-guilty verdict in the Memic case was expected for Muriz Memic, the father of the mysteriously killed Dzenan Memic whose death shocked the country, who spoke to N1 in the company of Davor Dragicevic, the father of another young man whose controversial death was never solved.
According to Muriz Memic, the judge in the case, Branko Peric, made a number of questionable statements during the pronunciation of the verdict.
“I don't know what Alisa Mutap (Dzenan’s former girlfriend) is hiding. For seven years I've been suffering and trying to prove it, only he [the judge] didn't seem to see the evidence. This is a ‘deep state’ and an abused system. There is no escape for us,” he added.
Memic said that he will not give up and that they are going to work even harder to prove the truth.
“People give me support so that I don't give up, I promise them – we will endure. This shouldn’t have happened today. The investigation continues. Today we met with the prosecutor and this is going even stronger. I'm just afraid that Peric won't welcome us again as a judge,” Memic said.
Davor Dragicevic whose son was killed under mysterious circumstances in Banja Luka came to support Muriz Memic. He claims that he too is a witness to the corrupt system because he is also proving the truth in the case of his son David.
“There is no justice in this country, especially in judicial institutions that have bitten into corruption. Perić announced the verdict in such an arrogant way, without emotion, blaming the media for creating a distorted image of the case. Without the help of the media and your television, there would be no such support for us,” Dragicevic told N1.
“Five years ago I said they will kill us all if we don't stand up. If this is left to them, there is no end to this. We’re dealing with a judicial and police mafia in BiH controlled by political leaders,” he said.
Speaking about his son’s case, Dragicevic said he was recently in the Prosecutor's Office and that serious work is being done to solve it.
“I can't say how far along they came in the case, but they are working hard. The question is how much courage they’ll have. They said that they are not interested in names and that they will continue working. No verdict can bring my child back, if they wanted they could have ended this,” Dragicevic concluded.
