The situation in the villages near Fojnica is slightly improving after the catastrophic floods and landslides that affected this area. The rivers have returned to their beds, but the damage is enormous. The roads are still impassable, but heavy machinery is making its way to connect the cut off Gojevica and Dusina with the rest of the municipality. Civil protection, as confirmed, reached Gojevici.
The N1 team made its way from Fojnica to the village of Trosnjik, which is about two kilometres from Bakovici, followed by the Gojevici. Passage beyond Trosnjik is not allowed to anyone, except rescue services, civil protection and heavy machinery. There is still no electricity because the main pole is damaged.
A local told N1 what happened. Early Friday morning, he and his neighbour managed to make their way through the forest to Gojevici and other villages.
“This morning around seven o'clock I was driving my wife to work and when I got to the road I saw that the area had been flooded and then I heard from other locals that Gojevici, Bakovici and Dusna were all affected. I walked there with my friend through the forest, the water carried everything before it. In Bakovici, there was a machine working that was trying to clear the bridge towards the Bakovici institution in order to evacuate the inmates. In Gojevici, Gvozdjanka spilled and the bridge was buried. A lot of logs, and torrential embankment. Everything was destroyed, right up to the school,” the local told N1.
He stated that this morning at 8:30 the head of the municipality was with the civil protection in the field and was looking for machines that they could hire for cleaning and establishing road communication.
