Ismet Gavrankapetanovic, the former director of the General Hospital "Primary Dr. Abdulah Nakas," will be appointed to the position of director of the Clinical Centre of the University of Sarajevo, on Thursday - N1 learns.

The committee for the selection of the new general director of the largest hospital in the country scored the candidates last week, and the first-ranked was Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanovic.

The decision on his appointment will be announced by the KCUS Board of Directors, which is sitting today at 4 pm., after which everything will be confirmed by the Federation entity’s Health Minister Nediljko Rimac.

Apart from him, surgeon Alen Pilav and Prof. Dr. Mevludin Mekic also applied for the position.

This decision comes after a long-time director of the hospital and wife of the Democratic Action Party leader Bakir Izetbegovic, Sebija Izetbegovic, was ousted from the position. She was dismissed following the revelation that she did not have the necessary qualifications to occupy the position.

“The director of a health institution must have a medical, dental, or pharmaceutical faculty degree, at least five years of work experience in the profession, knowledge of health management that is proven by a certificate of completed education in health management, i.e. a completed specialization in health management or a completed post-graduate study in health management, and fulfil other conditions prescribed by the founding act, i.e. the statute”, stated the decision on the dismissal of Sebija Izetbegovic.
