Soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces paraded in Bratunac, on Saturday, during the commemoration of the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Serbs in the Podrinje area.
The event, which has been held for years ahead of the commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide anniversary, brought together the entire political elite of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity.
Information appeared today that the soldiers of the Serbian Army paraded through Prijedor as well, the city where some of the most monstrous crimes against Bosniaks were committed and where the largest mass grave in BiH, Tomasica, was discovered. N1 is in possession of photographs that prove that the soldiers were also in Bratunac.
BiH Presidency member Zeljko Komsic confirmed that the Serbian Army does not have the permission of the Presidency to stay on the territory of BiH. Komsic called for an immediate investigation into who allowed the soldiers of the neighbouring country to enter.
BiH Defense Minister Zukan Helez has not yet spoken out on this issue.
“Not even 20 days have passed since the helicopter unit of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Serbia was stationed in Trebinje, and today we were informed by the media that a Serbian Army unit is parading in Prijedor,” stated the Democratic Action Party (SDA) Caucus in the BiH Parliament, reacting to the Serbian Army soldiers’ parade in Prijedor and Bratunac.
“The public has not been informed who approved both the activities of the Army and the Ministry of Interior of Serbia and whether we will soon come to a situation where tanks or some other units of the Serbian Army will one day appear on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.” the SDA stated.
Should we wait like in 1995
“Due to the presence of the Serbian Army, which does not have the BiH Presidency’s permission [to be in the country], and before the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, we demand an immediate reaction from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) because we do not know if we are safe if this is a message of threat that they can come when they want and where they want,” the Association of Mothers of Zepa and Srebrenica Enclaves said.
“The Serbian Army is located on the territory of sovereign Bosnia and Herzegovina. Should we, like in 1995, wait on our doorsteps to be killed, chased and raped while the whole world is silent. We demand an urgent reaction from the competent institutions and the international community. We ask whether it would be normal for a foreign army to enter the territory of Germany, France or any other country without permission and whether it would be characterized as aggression. Are we safe in our houses and can we bury our loved ones?” asked the Mothers of Srebrenica, calling for the reaction of international institutions.
