At Slovenia's request, the UN Security Council will hold consultations on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) this Friday, diplomatic sources told N1. The meeting will be held behind closed doors.

Slovenia, in coordination with other European countries, called for this session in light of recent unconstitutional actions by the President and leadership of the BiH entity, Republika Srpska, and concerns over the current state of affairs in the country.

Sources report that numerous meetings are taking place daily with representatives from member states, in coordination with the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Consultations were also held on March 6, behind closed doors. These consultations followed an attempt by Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and Zeljka Cvijanovic, BiH Presidency Chair, who, with Russian diplomatic support, sought to initiate a formal UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Bosnia. However, those efforts did not produce the desired outcome, leading to a different format for the meeting—informal consultations.

“At that meeting, no one spoke contrary to the statements already made by their governments and the embassies of their countries. From what I heard in recent discussions with international community representatives, I must say that this was a game the Russians lost. This was not a game where you get eliminated, and they thought they could immediately knock BiH out. Their goal was primarily to dismantle the OHR, so at that meeting, it could be heard from the most serious players that these consultations were not about the OHR but about Milorad Dodik and his efforts to dismantle the Dayton Agreement,” said Bosnia's Ambassador to the UN, Zlatko Lagumzija, in an interview with N1.
