NATO Deputy Secretary-General visits Bosnia

The North Atlantic Council (NAC), led by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, is on a two-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina where they held the first meeting with BiH Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic Presidency member Denis Becirovic.

The Deputy Secretary-General and the ambassadors of the NATO member states will meet with the Council of Ministers Chair, Borjana Kristo, and government members at 2:15 pm.

After the meeting, Bosnia’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic and the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană, will address the media at a press conference at 4:50 pm.

On the same day, the NAC will meet with the Parliamentary Assembly Board.

On February 2, 2024, the NATO Deputy Secretary and NATO ambassadors will meet with think tank representatives and university students in Bosnia. In the afternoon, the Deputy Secretary General and NAC will discuss practical cooperation between NATO and BiH with their colleagues and will visit the Rajlovac military base.

The Deputy Secretary-General and NATO ambassadors will also meet with the commander of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo and the EUFOR commander, as well as with the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, and representatives of the international community in BiH.
