Following high-level talks with the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Admiral Dragone emphasised that NATO remains vigilant against the emergence of any security vacuums. He noted that the current global climate necessitates strong international partnerships to safeguard the broader international community.

"Our commitment to stability in this region is strong and will remain so," the Admiral stated during his two-day visit, which includes meetings with political and military leaders, as well as briefings at NATO Headquarters Sarajevo and EUFOR.

Deputy Minister of Defence Slaven Galic, who led the Bosnian delegation, highlighted the critical role played by the international military presence in maintaining the foundation for economic development. He confirmed that NATO continues to invest heavily in the nation's security infrastructure.

Financial support for the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Security is projected to reach approximately 70 million Bosnian marks (approximately €35 million) over a five-year period. This funding, delivered through various ongoing and planned programmes, is designed to modernise institutions and enhance the readiness of the Armed Forces through joint exercises and specialised training.

The meeting, also attended by Chief of the Joint Staff Lieutenant General Gojko Knezevic, concluded with Deputy Minister Galic reiterating that full NATO membership remains the ultimate strategic objective for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Admiral Dragone’s itinerary continues with visits to the Office of the High Representative and the University of Sarajevo.
