NATO’s Rutte and High Representative discuss security challenges in Bosnia
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met with High Representative Christian Schmidt at Camp Butmir on Monday to discuss the ongoing political and security challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Schmidt emphasized the significance of Rutte’s visit, stating that it reaffirms Bosnia and Herzegovina’s position as a priority for the international community.
“The visit of NATO Secretary General Rutte is an important indication that Bosnia and Herzegovina and its institutions remain a priority for the international community,” Schmidt said. He expressed gratitude for NATO’s continued support and reaffirmed that the alliance, in cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s state authorities, remains committed to ensuring the country’s stability, prosperity, and progress.
The High Representative also stressed that any attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, or institutional functionality represent a red line that must not be crossed.
“This is essential for maintaining the stability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Schmidt concluded.
