The eleventh class of cadets from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police took their oath at the agency's headquarters in Sarajevo. A total of 98 cadets have qualified for the rank of police officer, with Vanja Vukovic Zubac being recognized as the top cadet.
“For us, the employment of young people is invaluable. The police job is a calling that requires many sacrifices. Only a satisfied police officer can adequately perform their duties and serve the citizens. This not only strengthens the capacity of the Border Police but also provides young people with stable employment. I expect exceptional dedication to the profession you have chosen,” said Mirko Kupresakovic, Director of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police.
Johann Sattler, the EU Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, congratulated the cadets on their new roles, highlighting the EU's financial support for their training as a strong commitment to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in managing migration challenges.
“You will contribute to combating illegal migration and smuggling. We are now entering a phase where our focus has shifted to planning and establishing appropriate migration management systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is another example of our collective strength. Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant progress in recent years in border security,” said Sattler.
It was also noted that the next step involves establishing cooperation with Frontex, with negotiations already underway.
