New political crisis: BiH Council of Ministers meeting blocked, Forto slams SNSD and HDZ

The key blocked items were the proposed decision on establishing the Office of BiH’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, and the draft laws on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and the Court of BiH.

Minister Forto stated that the country is "losing this year" regarding European integration. He sharply criticized the SNSD, labelling it an "anti-European party" that receives instructions from "non-European sources." Forto also implicated the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ), arguing they are "accomplices" in the blockade, despite the Chair Borjana Kristo's stated desire for progress on the European path. Forto challenged the HDZ to appoint a security minister from the opposition in Republika Srpska to unblock the Council of Ministers and the EU path, suggesting the HDZ provided the "tool" for the SNSD's obstruction.

Forto warned that while the European Commission might issue new deadlines due to the political will within the EU to treat BiH as a future member, "my assumption is that time is running out."

He stressed that the European laws are primarily needed by BiH, not the European Commission. Regarding the blocked legislation, Forto indicated that he would support the establishment of the Chief Negotiator’s office once the key European laws are adopted, as this matter remains technical and under jurisdictional debate. The next Council of Ministers session is tentatively scheduled for December 16.
