NGO says 16,000 at Mladic funeral

“The funeral procession for Ratko Mladic - former VRS commander and war criminal convicted by the ICTY - was attended by 16,000 people. The estimate is based on counting people in video footage recorded 11am-2pm at a fixed point along the route,” an X post said.

Mladic, the war-time Bosnian Serb military chief, was buried in a family tomb at Belgrade’s Topcider Cemetery following a service in a church where his closed coffin lay in state with war veterans and Serbian Defense Forces honor guard. Thousands of people walked past the coffin and followed the van with the coffin to the cemetery.

The funeral service and burial were attended by several Serbian cabinet ministers, President Vucic’s son Danilo, some right-wing opposition officials and current and former officials of the Republika Srpska.
