Following earlier warnings from Director Emir Suljagic that police had been instructed to raid the Srebrenica Memorial Centre, an official document from the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina has confirmed that the Zvornik Police Administration was requested to seize financial and material documentation from the institution. The document was published by Suljagic, who stated it validates his prior assertions.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina opened a case on 28 May 2026 regarding the financial operations of the Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial Centre. The Zvornik Police Administration was instructed to obtain information about the responsible person at the Centre and seize documentation pertaining to the year 2022.

In a letter signed by District Public Prosecutor Danica Cvjetanovic, the prosecution stated that the proceedings were initiated due to reasonable suspicion that tax and contribution evasion, under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska, was committed at the Centre in 2022.

The prosecution noted that six witnesses have been interviewed so far. Three provided statements before officers at the Zvornik Police Administration, while three refused to testify before the local police, stating they would provide statements directly to the acting prosecutor. The prosecution added that these witnesses will be summoned in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of Republika Srpska.

Speaking to N1, Suljagic confirmed that the Memorial Centre’s legal team had submitted requests for clarification in August and September. He asserted that the document proves Republika Srpska police were ordered to seize documentation from the site.

Suljagic announced plans to file private lawsuits against the prosecutor and the head of the Zvornik police for harassment, regardless of the outcome. He requested that the case be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

Emphasising that peaceful entry will not be permitted to entity police, Suljagic stated that officers would have to use force. He added that the Memorial Centre is currently operating with a skeleton staff, warning that a complete closure may be decided next week until the Bijeljina Prosecutor's Office drops the investigation or the state prosecutor's office takes over the case.
