The political situation in Bosnia makes it an unattractive destination for investments and the rhetoric coming from the country's political leaders does not contribute to long-term economic partnerships, the head of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, Ahmet Egrlic, told N1.
Egrlic said that many investors who planned their investments in BiH in the coming period gave up on the idea due to the current political situation.
He said that nobody from the government has ever invited him to a meeting, or asked him for any advice regarding economic activities.
Egrlic argued that lobbying would be a good step towards the better and faster development of the economy in Bosnia. The country needs to present itself as a desirable destination for economic activities, he said, arguing that promoting the image of a country in a good way affects the sales of its products.
“When you hear about German cars, Italian fashion, Swiss chocolate, you know how much this opens doors in the markets,” he said.
“And what kind of picture comes from BiH?” he asked.
He noted that the growth recorded is primarily the result of excessive demand in the EU and the shift towards closer supply chains.
