Orange alert in place across BiH, temperatures up to 41 degrees expected

The FBiH Hydrometeorological Institute said the warning is in effect on Tuesday, August 11, from noon to 4 p.m.

Temperatures of 38 to 41 degrees are expected in Herzegovina and in the far north of Bosnia, reaching levels corresponding to a red weather warning. In most parts of Bosnia, daytime temperatures are expected to range between 33 and 37 Celzius, within the orange warning level.

According to the weather outlook for the period from August 11 to 24, stable weather conditions will continue across Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming days, with predominantly sunny and above-average warm weather.

An increase in cloud cover is expected on Wednesday, which could bring brief local showers. From Thursday, more clouds are forecast, accompanied by slightly lower temperatures.

Cooler mornings are expected in central parts of the country, while tropical nights will continue in the south and locally in the Posavina region. The UV index will remain high.

Morning temperatures are expected to range from 15 to 21 in Bosnia and from 21 to 26 degrees in southern Herzegovina. Daytime highs will generally range from 28 to 34, reaching 34 to 40 degrees in the south.

According to currently available forecast models, rainfall is expected from Tuesday next week as a frontal disturbance is forecast to affect the entire country. The highest amount of rainfall is expected in northern areas.

During that period, morning temperatures are forecast to range from 13 to 19 in Bosnia and up to 21 degrees in Herzegovina. Daytime highs are expected to range from 23 to 29, reaching up to 33 degrees in the south.

The orange warning covers the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and applies specifically to high daytime temperatures on August 11 between noon and 4 p.m.
