A sort of a scandal occurred on Thursday in Banja Luka, Bosnia's second largest city and administrative centre of the country's Serb-majority region, during a visit of Hungary's prime minister Viktor Orban, when the official translator in press conference wrongly interpreted Orban's words, suggesting that he speaks about Republika Srpska instead of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following a meeting with entity president Milorad Dodik, Orban addressed media speaking about the “European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” which was along the lines of his speech in Sarajevo, earlier the same day.

However, the translator made it sound as if Orban was speaking about the “European integration of Republika Srpska.”

The controversial translation resembles another event, from approximately three years ago, during a visit of then Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto to Banja Luka, who was speaking about assistance of his country to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which official translator translated as assistance to Republika Srpska.
