The Mission emphasized that these occurrences significantly damage the sense of safety within local communities, undermining the foundations of trust, stability, and mutual respect. Highlighting that sports should serve as a platform for unity rather than division, the OSCE called on authorities to demonstrate an unequivocal zero-tolerance policy. This includes conducting prompt and thorough investigations to establish facts and ensuring that all responsible parties are held accountable under the law.
Furthermore, the Mission urged youth and sports organizations to consistently utilize all available mechanisms to prevent such conduct during and around sporting events. A specific recommendation was made to municipal authorities to ensure that public funding does not benefit any groups engaged in violent or intolerant activities.
The statement concluded by calling on citizens and community members to fulfill their responsibility in rejecting violence. By actively contributing to safe and inclusive environments, the OSCE noted that the public plays a meaningful role in countering these negative trends and preserving social cohesion.
