Outgoing Foreign Affairs Minister, Bisera Turkovic, warned that a "Ukrainian scenario from 2014” is being prepared in Bosnia and Herzegovina as she criticised the government formation process in the country following the October general election.

Turkovic complained about the appointment of members of the political party of hardline Bosnian Serb political leader, Milorad Dodik, to certain posts.

She noted that Srebrenka Golic, from Dodik’s Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), was recently elected as the Chairman of the Council of Peoples in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, “which is a position that belongs to a Bosniak representative”.

She noted that now the appointment of an SNSD member to one of the Bosniak posts in Bosnia’s Council of Ministers is also being discussed.

“This would mean the loss of veto rights and protection when making key decisions in the most important state institution for Bosnian politics for the most numerous people in Bosnia and Herzegovina!,” she said.

Turkovic also warned that if the High Representative of the international community would use his powers to intervene “decrease the importance” of the majority in the Bosniak Club in the House of Peoples of BiH’s Federation (FBiH) entity in the formation of the FBiH Government, “it would cause the biggest destabilization of the state structures since the Dayton Peace Agreement.”
“In this process, which started a few weeks ago, Bosniaks are beginning to lose any right of protection and veto, while the other two constituent peoples, i.e. their pro-Russian policies, are gaining stronger mechanisms by which they take over absolute power in the country!”, she wrote on Facebook.

According to Turkovic, the only way out of this is the formation of “a strong pro-Bosnian bloc” that will resist all anti-Bosnian policies.

“What we are being offered is a policy in which the people who survived aggression and genocide are being guided by the interests of those who are Russian puppets, who yesterday glorified war criminals and announced secession, and today they declare the property of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be the property of one part of it which they clearly said they wanted to break away from BiH,” she argued.

“What else needs to happen so that we understand that the “Ukrainian scenario” from 2014 is being mapped in BiH circumstances before our eyes? What would all those who shed blood in defence of this country say if they saw how easily we give up what generations before us fought for? How do you sell land cheaply for your own interests?” asked Turkovic.
