Parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina were hit by heavy rainfalls over the weekend, causing flooding and serious damage to households. The authorities of north-eastern Sapna municipality declared the state of natural disaster, after being hit by most severe floods since 2014.

Mirzet Halilovic, a representative of the Sapna Civil Protection authority told N1 that they were trying to clean the road linking the area with the nearby town of Kalesija.

Video footage showed the rush of floodwater carrying cars down the street and flooding the nearby houses.

A few days after it experienced severe flooding, the municipality of Teocak in the north was hit by severe weather again this weekend causing further floods. The state of natural disaster in the municipality was declared on Friday.

The water completely flooded a cemetery in the Snijeznica settlement, while many other parts of this municipality are faced with difficulties due to the flooding.

Some families have been evacuated from their homes.
