Plenkovic and Covic emphasise political stability, electoral reform, and Bosnia’s EU path

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Chairman of the Croatian National Assembly (HNS) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, met in Zagreb on Thursday, highlighting political stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acceleration of reforms and the European integration process, as well as changes to the electoral law to ensure equality of the country’s three constituent peoples.

Plenkovic stated on social media that he and Covic are continuing their regular dialogue on issues vital to the position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the progress of the country as a whole.

“The priorities are political stability in BiH, the acceleration of reforms and its European path, as well as electoral law reform to achieve equality of all three constituent peoples,” the Croatian Prime Minister said.

He also announced that on Saturday, he would take part in the 30th anniversary commemoration of Operation Maestral in Jajce, where he will pay tribute to the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of both Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Covic also commented on the meeting, noting that discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the country’s path toward the European Union.

“We remain firmly united, working for the benefit of the rights and interests of the Croat people and a European Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the HNS leader wrote on X.
