Plenkovic, Kristo agree, now is the key moment for reforms and BiH's EU accession

The Chairperson of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo, said after the meeting with the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic that another friendly meeting was held, thanking him for everything that the Government of Croatia did when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Plenkovic said that he sees a different dynamic in the work of BiH authorities and encouraged them to implement all priorities on the way to the EU.

“Their [Croatia’s] role and contribution are immeasurable, from the very submission of the application for EU membership in 2016 to obtaining candidate status in 2022, but I also believes that the Prime Minister will continue to provide all kinds of assistance in further European steps, I hope for the opening of negotiations as one of our new chapters,” said Kristo.

She thanked the Croatian Prime Minister for the help through infrastructure projects, from road infrastructure to the field of healthcare.

Meetings like today's, says Kristo, which are friendly, testify to the relations between BiH and Croatia, as do the joint sessions of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of Croatia.

Plenkovic took the opportunity to congratulate the ruling coalition on the “visible steps forward”.

“On the other hand, the most important message of my arrival in Sarajevo today is a message to Bosnia’s European path. Namely, BiH’s EU path is currently in a key and unique phase. Russian aggression has expanded the EU enlargement process,” Plenkovic added.

“BiH's efforts after last year, along with the previous 14 criteria, can be a kind of guidelines for the European path. I would like to encourage both houses to make an effort and pass laws that have been known as goals for a year now”.

Plenkovic repeated that the message about the EU path adding that it is crucial because now is the right moment.
