During his official visit to Sarajevo, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced the potential construction of a gas pipeline from Croatia to Posusje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized that alongside infrastructure investment, certain legal requirements must be addressed both at the Federation of BiH and state levels.
“Our goal is to ensure energy security and gas supply from two directions for Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Plenkovic stated.
He also highlighted Croatia's efforts to expand the capacity of the LNG terminal on Krk Island, which will be increased from 3.1 billion cubic meters to 6.1 billion cubic meters.
Since Croatia's maximum annual consumption is 2.8 billion cubic meters, Plenkovic noted that the surplus of 3.3 billion cubic meters could be supplied to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, and Germany.
