Josic informed reporters that the shipment originated in Lukavac and described the deal as a significant milestone for the company. He expressed particular satisfaction with the operation, noting it marks the first time in five years that this specific type of cargo has been handled at the facility.
"The goods are packed in one-ton 'big bag' sacks. We expect loading to conclude on Tuesday, after which the self-propelled vessel will depart," Josic stated.
The Director also announced that additional shipments are expected shortly. Currently, approximately 2,000 tons of mineral fertilizer are in transit from Constanta to Brcko for a company in Modrica, alongside 4,000 tons of coal bound for a cement plant in Lukavac.
Josic emphasized that these ongoing operations are set to increase both the workload and overall turnover at the port. He further noted that several key infrastructure and development projects are nearing completion. these include the relocation of railway tracks from the city center, improvements to access infrastructure, and planned investments in renewable energy.
As a result of final reconstruction work on the access road and the industrial railway line connecting the port to the station, traffic will be temporarily suspended in parts of the Srpska Varos residential area toward the end of March.
Josic concluded by stating that the works are expected to finish soon, adding, "We anticipate that the port's revitalization project will be fully completed in approximately twenty days."
