The postal services in Bosnia and Herzegovina have informed their customers that as of today (August 22) they are suspending the acceptance of all types of postal shipments to the United States.

“The United States, starting from August 29, 2025, will suspend the ‘De minimis’ duty-free treatment of imported goods. With the suspension of the ‘De minimis’ duty-free treatment, customs and other charges – regardless of the value of the goods – must be calculated and paid before a shipment arrives in the United States.

This change in the customs treatment of goods imported into the U.S. significantly alters the procedure for accepting shipments containing goods for all postal operators operating under the rules of the Universal Postal Union, given that no adequate technological solutions yet exist for the implementation of the new U.S. customs and tariff regulations.

We also inform you that, due to the inability to apply the implementing regulations of the United States, partner air carriers have temporarily suspended the transport of all types of international postal shipments to the United States at the counters of ‘JP BH POŠTA’ d.o.o. Sarajevo,” BH Posta said.

Poste Srpske emphasized that, since detailed processes related to the collection of customs duties and the data required to be submitted to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have not yet been clearly defined, postal operators across Europe and the world have been forced to temporarily suspend the acceptance of shipments to the U.S. They noted that all shipments are suspended, except for express courier shipments in international traffic (DHL parcels).
