Bosnia Presidency Chairman Denis Becirovic addressed the media at a commemoration at the Kovaci cemetery in Sarajevo on Thursday, speaking about main political issues and commenting on the latest statements of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

First, he touched upon the NATO aspirations of the country.

“It is up to us to do everything we can so that our country enters the NATO alliance as soon as possible. I must say that unrelated to what has been announced, there are encouraging messages from Brussels, from the NATO HQ, which has the mandate and obligation to act when peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina are threatened,” Becirovic said, and added:

“I would recommend everyone who questions the future and independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina not to play with fire.”

Commenting on the statements of Serbian President Vucic, the Presidency Chairman said that the local and regional public is slowly learning “the true face of Aleksandar Vucic.”

“He is not a peacemaker, the main problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not (Bosnian Serb leader Milorad) Dodik but Vucic. Therefore, international officials would have to ask themselves what kind of instructions Vucic is giving Dodik. He would have to start respecting the sovereignty and independence and territorial integrity of BiH and stop interfering in internal affairs,” he stressed, and added:

“My message to him is to respect international law, and not to behave as if the rules do not apply to him.”

UN Resolution on Srebrenica Genocide?

“This is another issue that we need to work on responsibly and seriously, and not make populist statements in the media. When it's all over, I'll talk a little more about it. Until then, we need to work seriously, and here's exclusive information for you – I'm going to New York at the beginning of next week,” concluded Becirovic.
