BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic spoke with the ambassadors of Turkey, Slovenia, Poland and Ukraine about the current geopolitical situation, the situation in Ukraine and the dynamism of the NATO path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, during his visit to Brussels. He noted that the country will continue its NATO integration process for the sake of regional stability.
He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina would continue to achieve its progress through membership in NATO, which would improve stability in the long term, encourage internal integration, attract foreign investments, and thereby contribute to the security of the Alliance in the long term.
Becirovic emphasized, among other things, that the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine have a direct impact on the security and political situation in BiH. He expressed solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, stressing that the citizens of Bosnia understand the suffering of the Ukrainian people and their struggle for freedom.
During the meeting, the Presidency member pointed out that the completely new geopolitical situation requires faster, more efficient and more concrete answers in order for BiH to receive an invitation for NATO membership as soon as possible. The acceleration and Bosnia’s entry into NATO will minimize the possibility of conflicts in this part of Europe and strengthen the security of the entire continent.
“BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic sent a message that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue its NATO path without any doubt and that his visit to Brussels is not of a private nature. On the contrary, numerous working meetings with top NATO officials in Brussels give special weight to this visit, but also represent a clear signal of the West's support for the preservation of the independent and sovereign state of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” his Office concluded.
