Denis Becirovic, the member of Bosnian tripartite Presidency, met with the ambassadors of the European Union member states and Head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina Johann Sattler, to discuss the upcoming meeting of the European Council and potential decision on opening of accession talks between BiH and the EU.

In a press conference after the meeting, Becirovic said that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has fulfilled all the obligations regarding this matter.

He also emphasised one thing in particular.

“In 2023, Bosnia and Herzegovina fully harmonised its foreign policy with the foreign and security policy of the European Union. That never happened until 2023,” he stressed.

Becirovic also noted that the European Council's decision to open EU negotiations with BiH would be an additional incentive for the country, but also a strong message for the entire region, as well as the fact that this path has no alternative.

“This is an important moment for BiH, we must not miss this chance,” he said.

According to him, there is certainly room for optimism.

“I talked to the leaders of numerous European countries, prime ministers, presidents, ministers over the past months – I want to believe that the outcome will be positive,” he said, thanking his colleagues in the Presidency, as well as those in the Council of Ministers and the Parliament, who , as he said, achieved much better results in the previous year than those before.
