The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Bosnia's top judicial institution, has suspended the President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ranko Debevec until the end of the investigation into the case that involves the official.

The Council's First-Instance Commission acted on the proposal of the Office of the Disciplinary Counsel and concluded that Debevec's further work at the post of the President of the State Courd would seriously jeopardise the credibility of this position and Bosnian judiciary in general.

Debevec was arrested on Monday alongside the former intelligence chief Mehmed Osmanagic on the suspicion of abuse of office.
