Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will travel to Banja Luka on Thursday to attend a formal ceremony marking Serbia’s Statehood Day.
The news was confirmed Monday by Milorad Dodik, the president of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Republika Srpska entity.
Dodik stated that he would spend Thursday and much of Friday in Bosnia and Herzegovina before travelling to Serbia with Vucic to continue the celebrations for Sretenje, Serbia’s Statehood Day.
“Sretenje is a shared holiday, reaffirmed by the declaration at the All-Serb Assembly. We are pleased to once again celebrate these important common dates with Serbia,” Dodik said.
According to the declaration adopted at the All-Serb Assembly, Serbia and Republika Srpska are to jointly observe Serbia’s Statehood Day.
Meanwhile, Serbia has been witnessing widespread protests in recent days.
Student-led demonstrations and blockades have intensified following the collapse of a canopy at Novi Sad railway station, which resulted in 15 deaths and left two people seriously injured. Protests escalated further after students from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts were assaulted during a 15-minute blockade outside their faculty on November 22, 2024.
