Over a thousand people gathered in Zvornik to show their support for former soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS) who were arrested a few days ago on suspicion of having committed the crime of genocide. They are former members of the Zvornik Brigade of the VRS, Lazar Ristic, Dragoja Ivanovic, Stanoja and Milorad Bircakovic, Predrag Ristic, Mladen Mihajlovic and Sreten Milosevic. Pročitaj više

They requested that the RS authorities and Serb representatives in BiH institutions pledge to stop further arrests of VRS soldiers, the veterans’ organizations were asked to provide legal assistance and the competent RS authorities to provide material assistance for their family members.

The rally was held in front of the monument to fallen VRS members.

After a protest walk through the main street in Zvornik, they briefly blocked the main road Zvornik – Vlasenica, TV BN states.

Sreten Milosevic was remanded in custody, while the other six suspects remain at large.

Prosecutor Crnkic claimed that the Prosecution of BiH has evidence that Milosevic was the deputy commander for logistics of the VRS Zvornik Brigade. The bringing of the captured Bosniaks to Orahovac began on July 13, and on the morning of July 14, 1995, Sreten Milosevic was on the spot, in front of the school in Orahovac.

“He brought some of the soldiers to whom he was superior. They participated in providing the conditions. They created an atmosphere of fear in front of the school. Milosevic was talking about how to aim at the windows, how to keep the prisoners from escaping, and two prisoners were killed in the process,” said prosecutor Crnkic at the hearing on Milosevic's detention order.

The Prosecution claims that Milosevic personally participated in all the aforementioned actions, taking the prisoners out of the school, where they were blindfolded, hands tied, and given a glass of water, all of which, the prosecutors claim, were done by members of the rear company commanded by Milosevic.

“Over 800 people were killed there, that is, guarding prisoners, shooting at the school, taking them out of the school, tying them up, taking them to the place of shooting,” the prosecutor explained.
