Paola Magoni, winner of the slalom event at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, is a guest at the third International Sports Camp for children, Telemach Children Speed Camp 2023.
The former skier said is happy to have the chance to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina again.
“Thank you for the invitation and I am happy that you invited me to the ski camp,” she said.
Magoni drove some 20 hours to participate in the event.
“On the way, we talked about how I was bringing snow to Sarajevo. That's what happened in 1984 when there was no snow in Sarajevo. It happened again that I brought snow here to Bjelasnica and to Sarajevo. Whenever you want snow, call me and I will come.” she said jokingly, referring to the sudden snowfall in the night between Sunday and Monday.
Edin Duric, president of the ski club “Olimpic”, which organised the camp, said the goal is the development of competitive children's skiing.
“Our concept and vision is to ensure that the worlds top skiers work with our young competitors to transfer knowledge and skills to them, to awaken their desire and passion so they become champions one day,” he said.
He thanked the sponsor, Telemach, as well as the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, and the Italian embassy in BiH.
