The authorities in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity declared September 27 as the Day of Mourning over the "tragic events in Kosovo", RTRS reports Tuesday.
The decision to declare the Day of Mourning was made by the entity Government in a telephone session.
Flags at institutions will be lowered to half-mast, and television and radio content, as well as all sports and entertainment events planned for that day, will be adapted to the Day of Mourning, reports RTRS.
An armed standoff took place in Kosovo’s Banjska village between a group of heavily armed Serbs and Kosovo police during which one Kosovo police officer was killed and four armed Serbs lost their lives. The Kosovo authorities characterised the event as an act of terrorism, while Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic kept repeating that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was to blame.
Kurti said on Sunday that at least 30 “heavily armed professionals” were involved in an attack which was “financed and orchestrated” by Serbia.
While three more suspects were arrested by the Kosovo police, the authorities claim the rest of the group escaped on foot to Serbia.
