On the occasion of April 6 and marking the 30th anniversary of the siege of Sarajevo, Mayor Benjamina Karic and City Council Chairman Jasmin Ademovic announced a rich program that will be held from 4th to 6th of April in the capital. Numerous special programs for all ages have been organized.

Marking one of the most difficult chapters in the history of Sarajevo, as the hosts of the press conference in the Sarajevo City Hall said, is an obligation to all citizens, survivors, young people and all victims who gave their lives to make Sarajevo what it is today.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, said that the reason for these activities is extremely important because this is the longest siege of a city in the modern history of warfare, which lasted 44 months.

“On April 6, we will mark the Day of the City of Sarajevo, the day when Sarajevo, won the victory over fascism 77 years ago. Sarajevo resisted all temptations. The citizens who defended it from 92 to 95 defended what was acquired on April 6, 1945. At that time, the anti-fascist spirit of Sarajevo was successfully defended, as well as the centuries-old heritage of living together,” said Karic.

In addition to a rich cultural, entertainment and sports program, as well as a scientific gathering, the City of Sarajevo and the City Council will hold a Formal Session of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo on Wednesday, April 6.
