The first shipment of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccines that Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity procured, which arrived at the Sarajevo International Airport last evening, will be enough to vaccinate 1,000 people and the RS Health Minister expects that vaccines for 200,000 RS citizens will be procured by mid-March.
The priority group for vaccination includes health workers who work in COVID hospitals, as well as those most susceptible to the disease, minister Alen Seranic said.
The minister explained that the RS Public Health Institute organised a call centre for people to register for vaccination and that citizens will be receiving a document confirming they were vaccinated.
The RS entity has also ordered an additional amount of vaccines, Seranic said, adding that a certain amount will also reach Bosnia and Herzegovina through the COVAX system.
Bosnia's Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik said a few days ago that some 100,000 vaccines from Russia would arrive in the RS, and that the vaccination process against Covid-19 should begin in February.
