RS President Dodik announces visit to Hungary amid ongoing legal pursuit

According to Dodik, the two leaders will discuss "strategic projects in the fields of energy and agriculture, as Republika Srpska seeks to build its economy with those who understand and respect it."

“Hungary today is a symbol of state policy that protects its people, its borders, and its way of life – and that’s why it is our natural ally,” Dodik stated.

He further emphasised that, “While some in the West threaten to resettle migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary shows how a state defends itself – both at its borders and through its institutions.”

Dodik said that Republika Srpska shares the values of freedom, independence, and European tradition with Hungary.

“In a changing world, it is important to have friends who don’t look away in difficult times. That is why we are grateful that Hungary understands our positions both in Brussels and in the region,” Dodik wrote on the social media platform X.

He added that Republika Srpska’s cooperation with Hungary is an example of how “one does not have to choose between East and West, but between respect and blackmail.”

“I am going to talk, work, and build – for the good of Republika Srpska and for a lasting, strong friendship,” he concluded.

It is worth noting that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a central arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik, as well as for RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandic, on suspicion of attacking the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Additionally, the BiH Court has requested Interpol to issue an international arrest warrant, but that request was denied.
