Municipalities of Sokolac and Istocno Sarajevo will receive a delegation from Russia led by Sergey Baburin, the President of the International Slavic Academy of Sciences, Education, Arts and Culture, on Tuesday.

Baburin who served as Deputy Speaker of the Russian Duma, is now known for his policies supporting the actions of Vladimir Putin – which was especially reflected in his statements about the war in Ukraine.

He is also known for his support for the President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, and ahead of the Tuesday visit, he told Srna news agency that “high-ranking European officials are pursuing evil goals” in relations with this entity.

“We have no doubts here, we are on the side of Milorad Dodik and the Republika Srpska, because high-ranking European officials are engaged in evil goals, they want to take the soul of the Republika Srpska and abolish it,” said Baburin.

According to him, Russia has missed a lot in recent years and made big mistakes, but “thanks to President Vladimir Putin, Russia is returning all its traditional, historical and spiritual values”, which, Baburin says, the Republika Srpska has always valued.

In the future, he believes, there won't be a big conflict in the region, but “it won't be that peaceful either.”

The office of the Mayor of Sokolac also added that Baburin's wish is for “a television crew from Russia to present the truth about the war in the Sarajevo-Romania region to the Russian audience.”

Baburin and the rest of the delegation will also be received by the Mayor of Istocno Sarajevo.
