Bosnia-born entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sanela Diana Jenkins, expressed support for a set of principles for constitutional changes in BiH that was put together by a group of local NGOs, urging public figures, as well as citizens throughout the world to support it as well and arguing that “if fascism prevails over democracy in Bosnia, it will be a clear message to all nationalists in the world that evil and violence pay off.”
In her message, Jenkins said she has been following the developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is experiencing the biggest crisis after the war caused by the actions of “those forces that aim to divide our country.”
“To all of us who have Bosnia and Herzegovina at heart, we are under pressure from misinformation that creates confusion in the public and kills the will and hope for a better tomorrow,” Jenkins said.
She argued that, although the issue in BiH seems complicated at first glance, it is in reality “a simple struggle that has been going on for 30 years where one side stands for democratic European values based on proclaimed human rights and freedoms, while the other side cannot get out of the national vortex of division by destroying everything around it.”
“The destructive forces have the support of those centres of power that oppose a stable Europe and prosperity for both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans as a whole,” Jenkins warned.
“However, we are Bosnians and only we, who love our country, regardless of who belongs to which nation or religion, know what our inner strength, defiance and our ability mean. Sometimes we are relaxed and seem uninterested, but when it comes to Bosnia, there is no compromise. If and when we want, we can achieve miracles,” she added.
Jenkins stressed that “the time we are currently living in requires us to achieve a miracle and familiarise friends in the world about what is happening in our only homeland.”
She argued that “democratic values of the free world are currently being defended in Bosnia” by the country’s citizens who want integration into the European Union and NATO.
“We know that we are determined in that, but it will also be easier for us to win our battle for democracy if we have the support of friends, first of all, America, Great Britain and the countries of the European Union,” her message said.
“In that sense, we should also support our non-governmental organizations that fascism prevails over democracy in Bosnia at the moment, it will be a clear message to all nationalists in the world that evil and violence pay off.and democratic constitution that will protect the rights of every human being.”
Jenkins called on “all public figures and our citizens in the country and the world” to support the “building of a prosperous and European BiH ” by expressing support for the initiative, which can be found on the website www.izmjeneustava.com.
“We must resolutely show what we want the world to hear us!”
“Let's contact all our friends wherever we live and say that in Bosnia and Herzegovina there is again a struggle for a more beautiful and civilized world. I have familiarised my friends with what is happening and I will continue to do so until the situation changes and we win the battle for a better Bosnia and Herzegovina and for every one of its people, regardless of which nation or religion they belong to,” Jenkins said.
“Equality and respect for others and those who are different is the future of all humanity, not just Bosnia and Herzegovina. The future of civilization is in the diversity of cultures, religions and peoples, and by no means in divisions, because otherwise, we are all heading downhill. If fascism prevails over democracy in Bosnia at the moment, it will be a clear message to all nationalists in the world that evil and violence pay off. We must not allow that, that is why we must save Bosnia, in order to save the world!” her message concluded.
The principles for constitutional change in BiH were put togeter by the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals (VKBI), the Croat National Council (HNV), the Serb Civic Council (SGV) and the Forum of Parliamentarians 1990.
