Sarajevo Airport and Croatia Airlines celebrate 30 years of partnership

The air link between the two capitals was established in August 1996, shortly after Sarajevo Airport reopened to civilian air traffic following the war, with the inaugural flight operated by an ATR 42 aircraft. Between 26 August 1996 and 31 August 2026, Croatia Airlines transported 1,345,041 passengers across 36,196 flights on the Zagreb–Sarajevo route. The year-round service experienced only one temporary suspension, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Acting Director of Sarajevo International Airport Dino Selimovic emphasized that the three-decade partnership extends beyond a single air route, highlighting its role in strengthening economic ties and providing Bosnian passengers with seamless access to European and global destinations via Zagreb.

Croatia Airlines Commercial Director Slaven Zabo noted the carrier's pride in being the first airline to land at the rebuilt airport in 1996. He added that the anniversary coincides with a major fleet modernization program featuring new Airbus A220 aircraft. As a Star Alliance member, the airline continues to support regional connectivity and economic integration.

Under the current flight schedule, Croatia Airlines operates up to 13 weekly flights between Zagreb and Sarajevo, offering extensive travel options for both business and leisure passengers.
