The achievement underscores the airport’s consistent growth and solidifies its standing as one of the region’s most important transportation hubs.

Sanin Ramezic, Director of the Sarajevo International Airport, described the moment as a landmark in the airport’s operations.

“Reaching two million passengers marks a turning point for us, a reflection of strong performance and a sign of what’s to come,” Ramezic said. “It’s an honor to celebrate this moment together with our partner Turkish Airlines, which has played a key role this year, carrying 18 percent of all passengers and achieving excellent seat occupancy rates. This partnership proves we’re on the right track.”

He added that the airport remains on an upward trajectory, confident in its ability to deliver even stronger results in the future.

“Our focus will remain on maintaining high-quality service despite the expected rise in passenger numbers and flight operations. Our team is fully prepared to meet those challenges,” the director said.

The two-millionth passenger was recorded on a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul, a long-standing strategic partner whose regular and charter routes have been crucial to the airport’s growth and expanding destination network.

The milestone passenger, Kemal Sanjta, was awarded a business-class return ticket on the Sarajevo–Istanbul route, along with access to the airport’s Premium Business Lounge. The prize was presented by Sarajevo International Airport management and Turkish Airlines’ Country Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kars Eyup.

Sanjta expressed his delight at being part of the celebration.

“As a frequent traveler, it’s wonderful to be recognized in this way,” he said. “It’s great to see our airport growing and welcoming more passengers every year. This milestone is a proud moment for all of us.”

Throughout 2025, the Sarajevo Airport has seen steady traffic growth, driven by an expanded destination network, increased seasonal connections, and strong partnerships with airlines operating in the Bosnian market.

With this record achievement, Sarajevo International Airport continues to strengthen its role as a regional hub and looks ahead to expanding its capacity and enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
