Final preparations are underway in Sarajevo and Banja Luka for tonight’s public New Year’s Eve celebrations, promising an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike.

In Sarajevo, the festivities will kick off with a concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic, followed by performances from young pop artist Adi Sose and regional star Severina Vuckovic, who expressed her deep connection to the city. “Sarajevo feels like home to me, and tonight’s concert is pure joy, not work,” she said in a heartfelt statement.

Tourist numbers in Sarajevo this year underline the excitement for the event, with over 700,000 visitors from various countries flocking to the city. Accommodation is nearly fully booked, with occupancy rates on platforms like Booking.com reaching 96%. Prices for the remaining options now start at 300 Bosnian marks (some €150).

Haris Fazlagic, President of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, emphasized the city’s readiness for the event and its continued efforts to attract tourists. “Sarajevo will be the regional centre of celebration. We aim to build on this momentum for a record-breaking 2025,” said Fazlagic.

He highlighted upcoming concerts by Nina Badric, Bajaga, and Prljavo Kazaliste on January 2-4, which will take place in front of the City Hall and will be free for the public. Sarajevo’s extensive offerings include outdoor events, gastronomy, and programs across locations like Vilsonovo Setaliste and Ilidza, ensuring a rich holiday experience for all visitors.

In Banja Luka, preparations have equally advanced. Tonight’s celebration will feature performances by Djordje David, Ivana Peters, and Senidah at Mladen Stojanovic Park, starting at 9:00 pm.

Locals shared their hopes for 2025, with most wishing for health and improved economic conditions. Many plan to celebrate at home, while others will attend public festivities or enjoy local venues.

Post-New Year events in Banja Luka include concerts by bands and DJs near Gospodska Street and the popular “Zimzobal,” a mini advent festival offering a rich program in the coming days.

Tourist officials from Banja Luka and Republika Srpska entity reported record-breaking visitor numbers for 2024, with a significant influx from Slovenia and other regional countries. Notably, this year marks the first time in nine years that Banja Luka will ring in the New Year with snow, adding a festive touch to the city’s atmosphere.

Both Sarajevo and Banja Luka are set to welcome 2025 in style, ensuring memorable celebrations for all.
