Due to the increasing air pollution in Sarajevo on Tuesday, its authorities have declared the 'warning' phase, urging the citizens to avoid staying outside and reduce outdoor activities.
The population with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular issues, children, pregnant women and elderly are adviced to spend time in fresh air as much as possible.
According to the IQAir measurements, Sarajevo was among top 10 most polluted cities in the world, with the air quality categorised as ‘unhealthy’.
The main pollutant PM2.5 was 26.4 times the WHO annual air quality guideline value.
The locals are adviced to wear a mask outdoors and avoid outdoor exercise, but also to use an air purifier at their homes and to close windows to avoid dirty outdoor air.
