The Sarajevo Canton is in direct negotiations for the purchase of coronavirus vaccines, Prime Minister Edin Forto confirmed Thursday, adding that they have already signed confidentiality agreements preventing them from going into further details, Fena news agency confirmed.
“I can't give any details about wholesale pharmacies and specific vaccines due to the signed confidentiality agreement. We are looking for a minimum of 100,000 doses, and at this stage, it would be ideal to have 200,000, ” Forto added.
However, he did say that according to the available information, the shipment of any significant amounts of vaccines can only take place in June.
Bosnia has to this date received two shipments of about 50,000 vaccines out of the total of 1.2 million doses it purchased through the COVAX mechanism. Other vaccines that have so far arrived in the country include donations from Serbia and Turkey, while the announced donations from China and Slovenia are still being expected.
