The number of tourists who visited Sarajevo during the New Year holidays increased by 20.1 percent compared to the last year and it was 114.7 percent higher than in 2019, according to the official data. Pročitaj više

In the period from December 29, 2023 until January 2, 2024 Sarajevo Canton was visited by 13,529 tourists, while the last year 11,264 tourists visited the city. A total of 6,299 tourists paid a visit during the same period in 2019.

The number of tourist overnight stays in Sarajevo Canton for the same period was 31,540, which is 43.5 percent higher compared to last year and compared to the same period 2019 it increased by 121.2 percent.

The majority of tourists who visited Sarajevo Canton during the New Year holidays were from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighbouring countries – Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Germany, Austria, Macedonia, as well as Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden.

On average, they stayed 2-3 days.

“The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, headed by chairman Haris Fazlagic, thanked all the tourists and citizens who celebrated the New Year in Sarajevo. We also express our special gratitude to the members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs, who implemented security measures well this year, so that despite large gatherings both outdoors and indoors, no violations were recorded, and we once again showed that the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a safe tourist destination,” said the Tourist Board.
