Catholics in Sarajevo marked the beginning of Advent season in the courtyard of the St. Mary Catholic Church in the Stup neighbourhood, where they lit the first on Saturday evening.
The event is jointly organized by the local parish, the Croat culture and arts association ‘Don Ivan Trobentar’ and the Archdiocesan Youth Pastoral Center ‘John Paul II’.
Several hundred people gathered at the event from Sarajevo, as well as the wider area.
At the beginning of the evening, the parish vicar, Rev. Marin Babic, blessed the Advent wreath in the beautifully decorated courtyard, after which the first candle was lit. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a live music performance and taste mulled wine, tea and various cakes and other sweets at the event, which will take place every Saturday between 6 pm and 11 pm, as well as on Sundays, following mass.
All proceeds from the sale of various products will be distributed among those in need within the parish, Nedjelja.ba reported.
