Sarajevo City Council names founder of Pomozi.ba as winner of 2026 ‘Sixth of April’ award

The Sarajevo City Council has officially selected the recipients of the prestigious "Sixth of April Award" for 2026 during Wednesday’s session. Following a unanimous decision, the individual award will be presented to Elvir Karalic, the founder of the humanitarian organization Pomozi.ba, for his significant achievements and results in various fields of work and creativity.

The collective Sixth of April Award will be granted to the Obala Art Center Sarajevo association. This recognition honors the organization for its substantial contributions and accomplishments within the sectors of culture and the arts, TVSA reports.

These selections followed prior proposals submitted to the City Council by the Committee for the Awarding of the Sixth of April Award. This recognition is the highest honour bestowed by the City of Sarajevo, granted to prominent individuals, groups, and collectives for exceptional success across all areas of political and social life.

The awards, which include a formal charter and a monetary prize, will be presented by the Mayor of Sarajevo and the Chairperson of the City Council during a formal session of the Sarajevo City Council.
